1. Overview

After 03.11.2011 the implications for Japan on safety fears and potential risks and costs after Fukushima disaster lead to a new energy portfolio for the future developments. This is a turning point for Japan and many countries around the world with their nuclear power strategies. Germany anyway but  China announced to revise their decision too. 72 percent of our interview partners for this study after 03.11.2011, in Japan see a change of priorities, policies and investments.
More than 200 billion US $ costs are expected from the disaster and not included the loss of assets, business and people. Reducing nuclear energy is a long discussion in Japan and many other countries.
Experts think they can achieve this by increasing their renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, biogas, hydroelectric and geothermal and others. 25 percent and over 50 percent of renewable energies are goals in leading countries. In 2010 about 40 percent of Japan’s energy is produced by nuclear power, followed by coal 25 percent, natural gas  20 percent, then hydroelectric, oil, geothermal, and wind and solar.
The country discussed to increase its renewable sources to 10 percent by 2025 from 4 percent in 2009. But this was before the disaster and now the opinion has changed dramatically. Japan has 54 nuclear reactors built in 70's within the oldest in the world and two are projected. The market volume of renewable energy worldwide will increase from US$ 124.4 billion in 2010 and reach US$ 198.1 billion in 2015 and Japan can have with great share with innovations and many  leading companies. The potentials in Japan from 4% RE in 2011 can develop to 70 % and 80 % depending on efforts, investments and policies in Japan. This is one key result of this new study finished after 03.11.2011. Forcing RE in Japan can bring a longlasting increase of economy, new export chances and
over 3 million new jobs in new technologies and sustainanble business.
Reducing nuclear energy is a long discussion in Japan and many other countries. Japan has better potentials as many other countries in the world for regenerative and sustainable energies.
The potentials by 2025 for Japan renewable energy are to be responsible for 80% of domestic electric demand and more than 60% of primary energy supply.
The segments renewable energies:
    20 % Gas including Biogas
    14 % PV
    12 % Biomass
    12 % Hydro
    10 % Geothermal
    10 % Wind
      8 % Energy saving

Traditional energies:
      6 % Nuclear
      5 % Coal
      2 %  Hydro pump
      1 % Oil

2. Goals of the Study

Aim of the study is the analysis of the clean & renewable energy markets and developments, research and development, the companies, organizations, branches and products. The data in 2011 is the basis, as well as the further development to 2015, 2050, and prospects.
The study shows turnover, volume, potentials, product fields and products, applications, competition, companies, countries, regions worldwide, profit potentials, value chains, research expenditures, investments, factors of success, strategies, and opportunities & risks.
The study is suitable to check the state of research and development, get innovations, check and compare the state of competitors, and develop own strategies. This applies to companies, institutes, organizations, investors and countries or states respectively.

3. Methodology

After 03.11.2011 was evaluated and made. The study is based on the following methods: Desk and Field Research. Market potentials and prospects are gathered by the Delphi-Method. Specialists in the market are questioned about their future expectations which are then narrowed through repeated coordination with the specialists.
A survey of over 160 enterprises, institutions and government agencies was conducted with questionary by telephone and personal.
