I.Initial Situation
China Water is a Study on Water Markets, Technologies and Projects in the 34 Provinces of China. The different market segments/sectors will be discussed, along with water projects, and investment possibilities. Poised to become a superpower, China confronts some of the most serious environmental threats in the world. Statistics show China is among the world’s 13 thirstiest countries. As a country with the largest population, about 400 from 699 cities are short of water, threatening the daily consumption of more than 30 million citizens and causing annual economic losses of more than US$ 14.5 billion.
To prevent more future problems and to reduce the severity of China’s water problems, the Government is taking reasonable measures, one of them being to invest US$ 148 billion in environmental protection programs, focusing on water, drinking water and air pollution control. Beijing for example, host for many events with experience major improvements in the next few years leading to the way. By 2020, Beijing would have an improved drinking water quality and 50% of the waste water would be reused. Beijing is determined to ease its water shortage and make the water cleaner with increasing investment.
In China itself, more than 1350 companies are active in the field of water and water treatment or drinking water, this number is expected to increase further to 6000 companies by 2025. A Chinese environmental industry is emerging. China is opening its environmental protection industries to overseas investors and expects the sector to grow at an annual rate of 14 to 17% in the next 10 to 15 years. China’s entrance to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) proves to be beneficial, this opens the opportunities for international co-operation in global water affairs. We could optimistically expect a great improvement of China’s water treatment industry in the near future.
Drinking water 2025 :Bottle Water Industry in China 2030
China is the world’s largest market for bottled water. Poor tap-water quality, increasing health awareness, higher income levels, and international tourism are fuelling demand. Bottled water sales in China grew from US$1 billion in 2000 to US$ 24 billion in 2019. Analysts anticipate an annual growth rate of between 5% and 12 % between 2019 and 2025. Figures like this highlight the importance of understanding China’s bottled water market landscape and the market forces that both drive its growth and threaten its collapse.
China’s bottled water market is highly fragmented and localised. The country has over 1,500 local brands, with only three sold national and 100 leading companies hold over 60 percent market share. Many companies can not keep quality standards. more http://www.hkc22.com/chinawater.html
This study focuses on China and its environmental technology development, focusing in the field of water treatment and drinking water. On the same level, the current situation, concerning environmental laws and policies, future prospects for investors will also be focused upon.
