Clean Energy 2017

The Markets for Regenerable Energies, Clean Energies, Zero Emission, Converging Energy and Water
Worldwide by Regions and Countries 2016, 2017 to 2030
and advanced Perspectives on: Technologies, Markets, Competition and Developments by 2016 including Nanotechnology and Molecular Technology

Summary

Today 15% of the world population consume more than 70% of the produced energy. The consumption potential in Europe and north America is extremely high, because most of the energies are used for heating and cooling. More than 40% of the world population don't have the access to energy at all. People are starting to get more and more aware, that energy saving and the sustainability in energy producing and consuming are of life‘s importance. Under such situation, the markets for regenerable energy see strong demand and demonstrate fast growth.

If the natural forms of energy can be used locally, it will significantly benefit the environmental industry, economy and employment. Up to now, innovations in technology, new markets and applications are utilized slowly or totally insufficiently. A multitude of structural hindrances prevents a swift and large-scale introduction and realization of regenerative technologies and sustainable energy developments. With the wide application of technologies, techniques, services and structures of regenerative energy globally in power plants, heating and cooling systems and in the field of mobility, the goals of sustainability in the Agenda 21 can be reached, even if energy consumption keeps growing.

Utilization of hydropower, wind energy, photovoltaic, solar thermal and geothermal and biomass is the focus of the development of regenerative energy.

The Helmut Kaiser Consultancy anticipates substantial investments in new generating capacity in coming years, with the largest absolute increases in developing regions.  In 2004, the world markets amounted to US$ 55,8 bn. A market volume of US$ 75,24 bn. up to 2005 is expected and US$ 198,1 bn. up to 2015. The largest increase in consumption and application will come from Asia: in 2005 the market will amount to US$ 13,53 bn. and until 2015 US$ 52,4 bn. Here, the biggest market is China with a share exceeding 35%. Within the world markets, regions, countries, technology and application segments, great differences exist with regard to starting point and development. Comparing with the traditional energy, the share of regenerative energies in the total energy industry is currently under 2% worldwide 2004. The coming twenty years will see significant growth in renewable and clean energies. Clean Energies count for 81,8 bn US $ in 2004 and will reach 429,1 bn US $ by 2015.  But the further development is not proceeding automatically, but needs either an active strategy and implementation of society or the pressure of climate changes. There are a potential of more than 3 million jobs worldwide by 2015 which are detailed in the study/book.

This growth has been driven first and foremost by supportive national and local policies, many of which have effectively overcome the barriers that continue to put renewable energy at a competitive disadvantage to fossil fuels. Aggressive technology improvements and cost reductions, better market  information, growing awareness of global climate change, local environmental concerns, and rural development needs in the poorest countries have also been important drivers of this growth.

In some developed countries such as Germany, Spain, Denmark, USA and Japan, wind power and solar photovoltaic are the two fastest growing markets among all the regenerable energies. The West Europe has seen the annual growth rate of 30-40% in wind power in recent years. Germany now has over one-third of worldwide wind power installations, while Denmark is the top one in wind power consumption per capita. Lacking of conventional energy resources, Spain sees the wind power a new and most promising energy resources  for the 21th century and has leaped to the major wind power export country. Germany and Japan are the most developed markets for household rooftop solar photovoltaic.

The highest and fastest increase of the market will be seen in china in the next 15 years with growth rates between 20 and 30 percent per year. China will be soon the biggest single market worldwide for several segments like biofuel, biomass, and more.....

The major application of regenerable energies is electricity generation, from power-grid-connected wind and biomass, and from decentralized rooftop and remote solar photovoltaics. In the developing countries, the leading application of regenerable energies can been seen in rural area, where there are no access to electricity grid. Small hydro power, solar home systems, small wind turbines, biomass are efficient to meet the household and communal demand for heating, cooking, lighting, television, radio and wireless telephony, etc. and for agriculture and small industry usage.

New technologies are the key for the development and efficiency of the clean energies, like nanotechnology, molecular technology and nano-bio-cogno-info converging technologies. See also Nanotechnology and converging markets
