I.Initial Position
Water Recycling, Reuse and new Processes in the Water and Wastewater markets Worldwide from 2015 to 2020 and 2040. Water-2 the next Generation Water Markets. Technologies, Markets and Market Developments, Application, Countries, Companies.
Globally, the water and wastewater industries are growing fast but slow down in 2009 in different segments and countries. Long term the markets will grow with 6 percent p.a. Water recycling, reuse and efficiency is the next wave in water industries worldwide. Reducing the demand for potable water, industrial water and water in agriculture is the key to overcome scarcity and increasing costs. One of the ways is using recycled water as a substitute. Realising potential benefits of water recycling and water conservation are identified as two of the greatest challenges for the next 30 years. Today the overall rate for recycling water is 5 percent from the total water market but we expect annually increase of 20 to 30 percent reaching over 40 percent from the total markets by 2040. This is the market for new technologies, processes and efficiency systems and high profit potentials in the future.
Non-potable water reuse is today an increasingly accepted practice but only in the beginning of commercialisation in most countries. These developments will free up potable water supplies and recharge systems while improving the protection of public health and the environment. Potable water from sewage plants and recycling plants will be common in some years. Already some countries like Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Namibia and in the near future China, Australia, USA and more will use potable water coming from sewage plants after secure cleaning processes. Future recycling operations are secured through informed industry, sound integrated management and treatment processes with suitably stringent standards and practices. Government law and regulation with stringent control of compliance are part the system.
Today there are only about 20 companies worldwide active with innovative technologies and processes and the potential to operate scientifically-based quality assured such plants and not only single applications. But the next years we expect a strong increase of companies entering this new market worldwide. There is no single solution or technology that can be applied. Further, financial incentives are required to drive and boost investment in some water recycling ventures, projects and countries. Small systems for industries, commercials and residential will drive the markets growth and open a new worldwide marketing strategy and profit potentials.
This study discuss the categories related to water recycling and water reuse divided into the following categories, water contamination, economic scarcity and physical scarcity. The study is made for intelligent companies to plan there future developments and strategies in the water and wastewater markets worldwide, develop innovations and products and audit there today strategies and product portfolios. It`s made for governments and authorities to develop new regulations and law and select the leading companies to realise the projects which are discussed in this study.
II. Goals of the Study
The study provides a foundation to gan information about trends, opportunities and risks and to evaluate initial situation and further development as well, identifies and evaluates the growth and profit opportunities within the segments of technologies/markets and value chain. It deals with the following technology sectors:
- Water recycling and reuse in different segment: municipal, residential, industrial, agriculture
- Water recycling and reuse in small scale buildings (POU)
- Smalls systems and plants
The study is arranged by sectors and can be obtained either completely, or each sector separately. The markets are presented by countries and regions, as well as by market segments.
